Welcome to the TGWU in the NHS Blood and Transplant Authority

Welcome to the weblog (blog) of the national TGWU NHS Blood and Transplant branch. The TGWU has a single branch structure for the whole of the NHS Blood and Transplant Authority. This promotes proper communications and cuts across the false demarcation lines of the National Blood Service regions. This way, the best representative for the job can accompany members facing disciplinary action or submitting grievances anywhere in the country. As the management have just announced that the regions will no longer exist in the proposed new structure, we are clearly ahead of the game. We have members in the transport department, stores and collection teams.

The T&G is the fastest growing union in the blood service. Our membership has increased by 50% over the last few weeks. Our branch secretary is Paul Selby who is a donor carer in the Bristol area.

The main purpose of this blog is to keep members (and anyone else) up-to-date with the latest news about what is happening in the NHSBT. At some point, it is our intention to also have a website with more detailed information about the branch and the blood service. Watch for an announcement on this blog.
