The Royal College of Nursing is hosting an online petition in support of Margaret Haywood who was struck off the nursing register for breaching the rules on patient confidentiality. 25,000 signatures have been added so far. As more details emerge about this case, the action of the NMC seems even more unjustified. Ms Haywood has had the support of her own union (the RCN) and Unite.

I am a registered nurse (retired) with the Mitcham blood collection team based in South London. I am also a Unite (T&G Section) branch chair for the NHS Blood & Transplant Authority Branch. We have a single branch covering drivers and collection team members in the whole of the NHSBT. Members in the Labs are still in former Amicus branches follwoing the mergers of the TGWU and Amicus.
